“The bigger and heavier the ball, the better… bowling myths”

We might not be experts in clickbait, but let’s be clear:

You’re not going to impress anyone by throwing the biggest bowling ball, because the lane doesn’t lie.

As you could see in the previous article, there’s not a huge difference in weight between consecutive bowling ball numbers, which actually gives you more flexibility to choose the one that suits you best.

If the problem is your ego trying to impress someone, the lane will give you a reality check.

“If I throw a heavier ball, I’ll knock down more pins”

Yes, that’s true… but only if you actually manage to get the ball to the end and where you’re aiming.

“If I throw a heavier ball, it will be easier to roll straight”

Yes… unless your hand or even your whole body is already pointing somewhere completely different before you release it.

“If I use a heavier ball, I always play better”

A classic. Yes… until you start losing accuracy and every throw feels like a gamble.

“I use the heavy one because I go to the gym”

Sure… training for strike failure.

This is one of our favourites:

“The heaviest ball is the most professional one”
Yes… in the hands of someone who can control it. In other hands… well.

At the end of the day, bowling is quite simple: it’s not about who throws the hardest or who uses the heaviest ball, but about who controls it best.
